The Government of British Columbia operates a network of 11 Trade and Investment Representative Offices around the world. GBA Advisory Group Limited is a Hong Kong-based consultancy that has been selected by the Government of British Columbia to act as the British Columbia Trade and Investment Representative Office in Hong Kong and Macau. The British Columbia International Trade and Investment Office in Hong Kong and Macau was established in January 2013 and works directly with prospective Hong Kong importers and investors, providing client-focused and personalized business services to help enhance trade and investment flows between British Columbia and Hong Kong.


Summary of responsibilities 

Working with the current team of 4, you are an experienced trade and investment promotion manager who contributes to the delivery of objectives of the British Columbia International Trade and Investment Office through active sourcing, business matching, market advice and research support to clients from various sectors. Responsibilities include: support for activities related to British Columbia’s export promotion in services and /products, attraction of investment into British Columbia’s priority sectors, development of science, technology & innovation partnerships, and support of trade missions and high level official programs.  

Qualifications
 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree from a recognized university in a field related to the position, including but not limited to: business, marketing, finance   

Language:

  • Fluency in English, Cantonese and Mandarin   

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in business development;
  • Experience in developing & managing corporate client & stakeholder relationships;
  • Experience in developing market knowledge, identifying trends, and providing professional business matching and client services.
  • Experience in researching and synthesizing information from various sources to write reports, presentations and provide oral briefings;
  • Experience in using social media tools for promotion and/or to generate new business opportunities/leads;
  • Experience in database and information management.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the trade and investment mandate of the Government of British Columbia with regards to export development, direct investment, and science, technology & innovation;
  • Knowledge of British Columbia and Hong Kong’s advantages in one or more of the following sectors: venture capital, financial services, professional services, technology, education, hospitality, tourism, commercial property or natural resources.

Conditions of Employment
 
Successful candidates must possess a valid work permit or otherwise be permitted to work legally in Hong Kong by the closing date and for the duration of the employment period.  This is a locally hired position and no reimbursements will be made for move transfer and no entitlement to any housing privileges.
